Hi! My name is Teddi and I live in Springfield, Oregon. I got my first angora rabbit as a pet in 1985. I collected her wool for five years, and then decided it was time to learn to spin, and haven't looked back since. Because of the angora rabbits, I gravitated towards the soft exotic fibers.
I've been doing the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene since 1990, first as a rabbit exhibitor, then sharing a booth with other vendors, and now I have had my own booth since 2003.
In 2001 I lost my husband to cancer and had to sell our small farm. It was hard parting with the alpacas, angora goats and almost all of the angora rabbits before moving back into town. I now have 2 rabbits 4 cavies(guinea pigs) and 2 birds - a cockatiel I raised from a hatchling and an amazon parrot.
By moving back into town from the farm, I had to change the direction of the business from breeding animals and collecting the fiber, to getting creative with the fibers that I have access to. The business took another turn in 2006, when I started selling my handspun yarns and knitted hats at the Eugene Saturday Market, sharing a booth with John and Toni Rakestraw. In 2007 we got our own separate spaces, and people are now coming back, looking for me and my products. Toni is a gifted artist, taking my pieced together computer graphics, and created the beautiful artwork logo that is at the top of every page.
